We understand the demands and exigencies of working with sophisticated in-house counsel and are prepared to provide legal services tailored to fit our clients’ budgets.
In the area of bank-related litigation, attorneys including former federal and state prosecutors have defended banks in lawsuits brought by customers alleging violations of financial privacy in reporting suspicious activity. Fully conversant with U.S. and foreign anti-money laundering laws and regulations, members of the litigation department are frequently called upon to assist our financial services clients in responding to foreign and domestic legal procedures, including grand jury investigations, document subpoena responses. We provide advice and counsel on the Bank Secrecy Act, regulatory examination issues, wire transfer monitoring, necessary internal controls for financial institutions, “know your customer†and due diligence procedures, suspicious activity reporting and privacy issues.

Transnational disputes have unique legal challenges that Maxine Long has tackled for 28 years. She often uses her own creative strategies to handle issues ranging from international negotiations to dispute resolution and post-judgment remedies. An experienced partner in the Miami Litigation Department, she focuses on resolving disputes for companies and financial institutions in the U.S. and abroad.
Ms. Long has been board certified in business litigation by The Florida Bar for more than 10 years. Her expertise allows her to negotiate problem transactions, address broken contracts and dispute breached warranties. While she is highly skilled in financial transactions and banking matters, she is also experienced in creditors' rights and remedies, transnational business and product liability issues. Clients include individuals, corporations, foreign and national banks, and government entities. Her work with a local church has also led to a side niche--counseling churches of various denominations.
International Experience
The international aspect of Ms. Long's practice is extensive, with cases often involving foreign banking transactions and contract disputes. She has experience with cases under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, as well as various treaties and conventions, and is particularly skilled at handling cases that span multiple jurisdictions. She successfully resolved cases with parties in 3 countries, for example, and also represented two Latin American nations.
